"The decision was made on Monday morning in Clairefontaine after talks between the player and the French national team doctor, and later between the player and Didier Deschamps (the national team captain)," the association writes on its website.

"The national team apparatus pays tribute to Presnel's honesty and wishes him a speedy recovery."

Instead, Deschamps calls in Monaco defender Axel Disasi as a replacement.
