Like many others, Sweden's national team captain Janne Andersson has seen the fine scenes of the weekend when the icon Börje Salming was celebrated in the Air Canada Center.

Despite his illness, he had traveled to Toronto to attend the Hall of Fame weekend.

- When you see this, you feel sad, but also happy that he gets to experience this.

And when people show this love, sports are at their best.

Then there is the hugely tragic nature of the disease itself, there are extremely divided feelings when you see it.

But we in the coaching team sat and looked at it in the hotel room yesterday and cried together, says national team captain Janne Andersson to SVT Sport.

Janne Andersson has met Salming a few times and remembers one of the most classic moments in hockey history - when Salming received a standing ovation in the Canada Cup in 1976.

- 76, then I sat at home on Eketångavägen in the basement and watched as he stepped into the Canada Cup and was celebrated and scored the 1-1 goal against the USA.

He is a fantastic human being.
