Masafumi Nakayama, a former Japanese national team coach who was once the coach of Jubilo Iwata, who were relegated to J2, has been appointed as the manager of J3 side Azul Claro Numazu.

This was announced by Jubilo and Azul Claro on the 13th.



Nakayama, nicknamed "Gon", is 55 years old from Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture.



He played as an ace striker for Jubilo for a long time, scoring 157 goals in J1 and contributing to three league titles.



He also scored 21 goals in 53 appearances for the Japanese national team, notably scoring his first goal for Japan against Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup in France, the first time the country was represented.



After retiring once in 2012, he made a comeback with Azul Claro Numazu in what was then the JFL, which later became J3.



Also, since January last year, I have been the coach of Jubilo, who was then a J2 team, but on the 13th, it was announced that I would be retiring, and I was appointed as the manager of Azul Claro.
