Despite major problems with injuries during the spring, Elin Rubensson has performed in both club and national teams.

On November 16, she can be praised as the women's league's most valuable player and in the last international match, the 3-0 victory against France, the 29-year-old managed to shut down the French midfield.

- It was a fun match to play.

I won a lot of ball in the middle and put my teammates in good positions offensively, says Rubensson.

"Want to fill my own shoes"

Early on Saturday, Swedish time, a new international match awaits for Sweden and Rubensson, who is in Australia.

Australia, which together with New Zealand will host the World Cup next summer, stands for the opposition.

In the absence of injured Caroline Seger, Rubensson can get a key role.

- I don't usually say that I will fill someone else's shoes, but I want to fill my own shoes and play my game.

Then it's clear that Seger is a good player and an important leader for us, then I try to play my game when I play and not imitate someone else.

Union captain Peter Gerhardsson is more than satisfied with Rubensson's performances in central midfield.

Continuity behind the success

- I think she has done very well and France was perhaps her best international match that she has played after the EC.

Elin has shown that she can handle this role well, he says.

Rubensson is an all-round player who has played both fullback and striker, but is most comfortable as an inside midfielder.

She cites continuity as a key to this season's success.

- I have played in the same position for quite some time.

Last spring I jumped around a bit and played in different positions and it is clear that it is more optimal to play where I feel the best.

SVT broadcasts Sweden's international match against Australia on Saturday 12/11 starting at 04.40 on SVT1 and on SVT Play.
