Closely beaten and still over the moon: Lukas Dauser, who came second at the Olympics, silvered “his” bars for the first time at the World Championships.

The Olympic champion from Unterhaching put Zou Jingyuan under a lot of pressure with a magnificent freestyle, but still had to let the Chinese pass him.

The Asian received 16.166 points for his exercise in Liverpool, the German all-around champion had submitted 15.500 points.

Dauser thus improved on the qualification (15.400) and the all-around (15.166).

Bronze won in metropolitan England Carlos Yulo (Philippines) 15,366.

The 29-year-old Dauser celebrated his freestyle almost flawlessly and thus confidently secured second place.

Small uncertainties in the first two appearances in Liverpool were successfully combated through hard training.

Immediately after his practice, Dauser was able to celebrate precious metal.

Because the sixth in the decision, the German, who was third in the preliminary fight, took over the lead of the field, but then had to watch Zou pass.

For the EM third in 2021, it was the first medal at a World Championships and in Liverpool also the only one for the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB).

In the all-around, Dauser took eleventh place on Friday.

On Saturday, European Champion Elisabeth Seitz's fourth place on the uneven bars put a relaxed smile on her face.

Because even at the age of 29, the German record champion did not see herself at the end of her 13-year path to success.

"I'm still young," said Seitz with a wink and announced with great enthusiasm: "I'm really keen on a training phase in which I can try out new things."
