Westman was sixth after qualifying with the longest jump in the starting field and received the same position after the first round, also with the longest jump – 127.5 meters – but slightly fewer style points compared to those who placed better.

And in the second round she brought a slightly shorter but better styled jump and took the lead with five jumpers to go.

But Norway's Silje Opseth, who won by far, and Austria's Marita Kramer and Eva Pinkelnig got better total points after their jumps, and Westman thus missed the podium by a margin of 0.8 points.

Frida Westman made her debut in the World Cup in ski jumping in November last year and was already able to start placing in the top 10 after the turn of the year, with a season's best placing of fourth in the Austrian Hinzenbach in February.

She was also the first Swedish ski jumper in 28 years to compete in the Olympics, where she finished 16th.

Norwegian Maren Lundby, who was forced to sit out last season and the Olympics in Beijing in order to recover from problems caused by, among other things, weight loss, was back in the competition.

She finished in 16th place.
