AIK Bandy has long been plagued by major financial concerns.

A debt mountain of five million kroner and high costs were finally the last straw.

- This is extremely boring and sad in every way.

It's not something we've experienced before.

It is especially sad for the players who have invested before the season, says Cecilia Wahlman, president of AIK's main association.

AIK Bandy's financial problems have been discussed before.

Could you have seen this coming?

- They have struggled and we have had a certain dialogue where we have seen, just like everyone else, that they have had problems and major challenges.

But hope is the last thing that abandons you, this last one became too overpowering.

AIK as the main association has 13 different sports in its sphere.

Of which bandy is one of them.

What is your responsibility as the main association in this?

- The main association's mission has nothing to do with their finances, says Wahlman.

What consequences does this have for AIK in general?

- We don't see any direct consequences yet, but it is incredibly sad for AIK and AIK's brand.
