The World Cup premiere in giant slalom was to have been held on Saturday, but had to be canceled due to bad weather.

On Sunday, however, nothing could stop the competitions and at ten o'clock the Frenchman Alexis Pinturault started the starting field and set the target time 1:00.90.

As the third man, last year's sovereign, the Swiss Marco Odermatt, set off.

He won both the World Cup in giant slalom, the overall World Cup and became Olympic champion in giant slalom.

The Swede makes his World Cup debut

Just like last season when Odermatt won the premiere in Sölden, it went quickly.

He leads after the first race by 42 hundredths ahead of the Norwegian Lucas Bråten.

The only Swedish participant is 25-year-old Värmlander Johan Silfält, who is making his World Cup debut.

The competitions are still ongoing, SVT broadcasts.
