Marcus Johansson, 32, returned to the Washington Capitals last season and is now in his sixth full season with the club.

After the first period, the game was scoreless and after two periods, Los Angeles had acquired a 2–0 lead before the third.

It was then that the Capitals began the turnaround.

After two quick goals at the beginning of the third, the score was suddenly 2-2.

Took the kitchen route - decided

Denmark's Lars Eller made it 3-2 in the middle of the last period, but Sweden's Viktor Arvidsson equalized for Los Angeles.

The game was close, but it was the Capitals who came closest to deciding the game.

- We have a few shots in the frame, so we were close, says Marcus Johansson to the club's website.

With just over five minutes left, Johansson took off, rounded the opponents' goal cage and put the puck in to make it 4-3 for the Capitals.

- I was a little tired and the puck bounced a little at my blade, so I just wanted to get it towards the goal and it went in, so it was nice, says the hero of the match.
