In the autumn of Tsinghua University, Yang Qian can often be seen busy on the campus.

"Usually go to class in the morning, special training in the afternoon, and then physical fitness..." More than a year after the Tokyo Olympics ended, Yang Qian's life has long returned to a familiar rhythm, with shooting and reading interspersed.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Yang Qian, born in 2000, stood out.

She first shot down the first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the women's 10-meter air rifle event, and then won the 10-meter air rifle mixed team gold medal with her partner Yang Haoran.

In one Olympics, she won two gold medals, and the fledgling Yang Qian left a deep impression on people.

Outside the arena, Yang Qian's studies have not fallen behind.

"Academic and career are like a person's two legs. Whether it is for career development or future life, walking on two legs will be more stable and farther. Shooting athletes and Tsinghua students, these two You have to work hard for your identity." Yang Qian said.

"The competition is more of a contest with yourself"

The shooting hall of Tsinghua University is the main training venue of the school shooting team, and it also undertakes the course task of shooting teaching for ordinary students.

On a sunny afternoon, the reporter interviewed Yang Qian here.

Dressed in a sports-casual outfit, she just finished her physical training.

On July 24, 2021, Yang Qian won the first gold medal of the Tokyo Olympics and became a household name for a while.

Many images from that day are still deeply in her mind. "Especially when I remember raising the national flag and playing the national anthem, my heart is full of excitement and I am very proud. This feeling will be unforgettable for a lifetime." Many viewers remember Yang Qian's vibrant image. Still new, wearing a little yellow duck hairpin on her head, standing on the podium with a cute heart... On the Olympic stage, she left many unforgettable moments.

As a young player, Yang Qian was not a favorite to win gold before the Olympics, and only ranked sixth in the qualifying rounds.

But when it came to the final stage, Yang Qian dared to fight and she was always at the top of the ranking. Before the last shot, she was 0.2 rings behind the first-ranked player Galahina.

In the crucial decisive shot, Yang Qian scored a 9.8 ring, leading her opponent by 0.9 ring, and achieved a go-ahead in one fell swoop, taking the gold medal in the bag. The total score of 251.8 ring also created a new Olympic record.

"Shooting is a competition with the opponent, and the competition is more of a competition with yourself." Yang Qian said that in the competition, she would try not to look at the rankings of the players, but focus on her own results, and strive to improve every detail. Good every shot.

In the usual training and competition, her attitude is also to work hard to improve the process, and not to place too much emphasis on the results.

It is this focus on the process that allows Yang Qian to seize one opportunity after another.

In March 2020, the Tokyo Olympics were postponed for one year, and the national shooting team decided to reorganize the selection of athletes.

Yang Qian, who entered the national team late and has less competition experience, won all the championships in 4 consecutive high-intensity trials and was selected as the first place in the total points for the Chinese shooting team in the Tokyo Olympics.

"If you insist, you must go all out"

From an obscure student athlete to an Olympic gold medalist, Yang Qian's growth trajectory shows that as long as she works hard, her future will be full of hope.

Yang Qian was born in an ordinary farm family, and her relationship with shooting began when she was 10 years old when she was "bullet casing".

This test tests concentration and stability.

When participating in the recruitment of the shooting team of the Ningbo Sports School, she built 7 shells. "Others can only build three or four." The first impression of the enlightenment coach Yu Lihua of her was that "the eyes have aura, focus, confidence, and courage. ".

To practice shooting well, talent alone is far from enough.

"Shooting is a lonely and boring project. The 10-pound training suit is stiff in winter and sweltering in summer. Often a training session lasts for several hours, holding an air rifle motionless." Yang Qian said that when she first started professional training, She has also retreated, but with the encouragement of her parents and coaches, she persevered.

"Since you insist, you must go all out." Yang Qian completed every training session earnestly, and her results improved by leaps and bounds.

In 2014, Yang Qian scored 40 rounds and 399 rings in the 10-meter air rifle competition at the Zhejiang Provincial Games, reaching the world's advanced level.

After that, Yang Qian was specially recruited into the Tsinghua shooting team, where she trained and studied at the high school attached to Tsinghua.

To keep up with her studies, she often stayed in the shooting gallery after finishing her training, often late into the night.

"When most high school students go all out for the college entrance examination, I need to take into account two things, training and learning are almost seamless." Yang Qian believes that although it is hard, embarking on the road of integration of sports and education means that there will be more opportunities in the future. There are many possibilities. "Youth is for struggle, and hard work will definitely be rewarded."

"Strive to win more honor for the motherland"

As the winner of two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, Yang Qian has received a lot of attention, but she said that she will continue to work hard in the future to strive for better results and a more exciting life.

In the selection of the 26th "China Youth May Fourth Medal" announced on May 3 this year, Yang Qian was on the list; on September 7 this year, Yang Qian was elected as the best female athlete among the "Top Ten Sports" in Zhejiang Province in 2021... ... She admitted that compared with the past, she now participates in some social activities, but "honor belongs to the past".

Step off the podium and start from scratch.

On the field, Yang Qian is no longer the role of "Shocker", and many teenagers younger than her are gradually emerging.

In the recent World Championships selection, Yang Qian ranked fourth in total points and failed to qualify for the World Championships.

She said that this result made her feel the pressure and challenge, and it also showed that she needed to put in more effort and sweat in the future training.

At the same time, she is also pleased with the continuous emergence of younger athletes, "This shows that our country has a solid reserve of shooting talents. In the future, I will work with them to strive for more honors for the motherland."

For Yang Qian, the next most important game is next year's Hangzhou Asian Games. She hopes to represent the Chinese team at the "doorstep".

She said she had to carry the load and perform well.

At the Olympics, no athlete has successfully defended the women's 10m air rifle. Looking forward to the Paris Olympics in two years, Yang Qian said that she will redouble her efforts to represent the Chinese team and achieve good results.

In terms of academics, Yang Qian also did not relax. She is now in her fourth year of university and revealed that she has plans to study for graduate school.

"I hope that through continuous learning, we can broaden our horizons and gain knowledge, and become a new-age youth with all-round development." Yang Qian said.
