Last night, Mikael Ymer reached the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open.

Earlier this week, SVT Sport met him and talked about what he has said and written on social media in recent months.

"The reason why I don't play in Båstad is the same reason why Zlatan doesn't play in the Allsvenskan," said Mikael Ymer to Tennisportalen this summer.

And it's just one of several statements Ymer has made that have been heavily criticized in the media, on social media and by tennis experts.

Before the Stockholm Open, he wrote that "everyone knows that a Swedish competition without me is like ordering a salad at the donken" (McDonald's, editor's note).

- I go a lot by feeling and that's how I feel at the moment.

If people think I'm rude, fine.

"Not interested in being loved by everyone"

He also means that he cannot be liked by everyone.

- I am not interested in being loved by everyone or a role model for everyone.

I'm more interested in someone who met me in person, as a child at SALK (tennis club in Stockholm, editor's note).

If someone who has actually met me would have an opinion about me, then I would have called and said "hey, it hurts me that you got this opinion, there must have been something", says Ymer.
