3 million tickets for the 2022 World Cup were sold... and the UAE is in sixth place

About a month before the start of the 2022 World Cup, the Qatari organizers confirmed that the country is ready for the global football event with the sale of about 3 million tickets, at a time when the International Football Association (FIFA) stressed the reforms undertaken by the gas-rich Gulf state regarding the issue of foreign workers, stressing that negotiations are underway to establish Compensation fund for these.

In a press conference in a hotel in the capital, Doha, the Executive Director of FIFA World Cup Operations Colin Smith touched on the statistics related to the upcoming World Cup, noting that 2.89 million match tickets had been sold so far out of 3.2 million, in addition to 240,000 hospitality packages.

According to the statistics presented by the organizers for ticket sales by country of residence, Qatar topped the list of the top ten countries, followed in order by the United States, Saudi Arabia, England, Mexico, the Emirates, Argentina, France, Brazil, and Germany.


In turn, the CEO of the Qatar World Cup, Nasser Al-Khater, indicated in an overview of the World Cup arrangements, that 12,300 media statements were registered, and 20,000 volunteers were selected out of 420,000 applications submitted from 209 different countries, 89 percent of whom reside in Qatar.
