Isak Hien has undeniably had a successful season.

After 16 games in the Allsvenskan and six in the European Games for Djurgården, the centre-back was sold to Hellas Verona in Serie A.

Now he also has the chance to make his debut in the Swedish national team in the Nations League matches against Serbia and Slovenia.

- It has gone so fast that you haven't had time to land.

I had just got used to playing in Djurgården and then there was a move abroad and then you have to get used to playing in Italy and now you are here, he says to SVT Sport.

"That's the big challenge as a footballer"

So far, Hien has made five appearances in Serie A.

Something he believes will help him acclimate more easily to the national team.

- The big challenge as a footballer is to adapt to the level you reach, so I think that the game in Serie A will help me in that part, he says.

Given to choose Sweden

Although Hien could choose both the national teams of Ghana and Burkina Faso, where he was courted by the latter, it was an easy choice to accept when Janne called.

- For me, it has always been quite a given.

Before you have been called and made the official decision, it is difficult to talk about it in the media, but in my head I have always wanted to play for Sweden.

I was born and raised here and it has always been the dream, he says.

- Of course, it is not very easy when you have to choose between national teams.

But I told Janne that it's Sweden I want to play for and I'm only 23 years old, so I didn't feel any great stress about this call-up, that I was going to go and play with another national team.
