• Stade Rennais receives the Turks from Fenerbahçe on Thursday evening in the Europa League.

  • For this meeting classified as high risk, the Breton club has decided to close its general public ticket office which was to open this Monday afternoon.

  • Only 19,000 people will therefore attend the match, including 1,350 Turkish supporters.

The poster has a mouthful and will act as a big test for Stade Rennais in the European Cup.

But unfortunately, Roazhon Park will not be full Thursday evening for the reception of Fenerbahçe in the Europa League.

While the meeting is classified as high risk, the Breton club, in consultation with UEFA, the national division for the fight against hooliganism, the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine and the town hall of Rennes, has indeed decided to not open its general public ticket office this Monday afternoon as initially planned.

“As a precaution, the sale of tickets is therefore closed,” said Stade Rennais on Monday in a press release.

Thursday evening, only 19,000 people, mainly subscribers, will therefore be welcomed into the stadium.

Among them will be 1,350 Turkish supporters, reputed to be very warm, who will be gathered in the visitor parking lot.

Fans divided over this decision

"This decision saddens us, but on reading the recommendations of our interlocutors and in view of recent excesses on the sidelines of football matches, it stands out as the most responsible and capable of meeting the club's priority objective: to continue to welcome its public, especially families, in the best possible conditions of safety, ”underlines the club.

On social networks, many Rennes supporters welcome this “wise decision”.

“The club is right unfortunately even if it is very sad to come to this”, indicates a surfer, denouncing “the idiots who have nothing to do with football and who only think of coming to break or hit” .

On the side of Fenerbahçe fans, the pill is struggling to pass.

"You're just scared because we're going to hear our supporters all game, too bad you would have had a lesson in atmosphere in your stadium", ironically one of them.
