The Women's Ice Hockey World Cup has been decided on 21 occasions since 1990. In 20 of those finals, Canada and the United States have faced each other.

That's how it was this year too, and you really can't complain about the entertainment that the two giants of women's hockey offered.

However, it would take until 9.30 into the second period before the goal score was broken.

Goal scorer: Canada's Brianne Jenner who managed to get the puck down the ice from a tight angle.

And a little less than a minute and a half later it narrowed again, from the same angle and from the same stick.

This time, however, Jenner found the far cross.

- She scores again!

From the same angle, straight up the cross.

Talk about beautiful goals by Jenner, said SVT's commentator Chris Härenstam.

However, the USA came back and got a key layup through Abby Roque with just 21 seconds left in the middle period.

In the third period, the USA pushed for an equalizer and they also came very close on several occasions, most dangerously with 30 seconds left to play when Canadian goalkeeper Ann-Renee Desbiens made a magnificent triple save, but Canada somehow managed to the own goal and save their second straight WC gold.

- I am so impressed by Canada.

If you had also seen their matches at home, you would have wondered: how can they play so well now?

But it's their competitive instinct, when it comes down to it, everyone steps up, says SVT's expert commentator Maria Rooth.
