In May, it was announced that Linn Svahn - and later also Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist - would break away from the Swedish national cross-country team in order to invest in their own auspices instead.

Three months have passed and at a training camp in Torsby, some of the national team skaters tell how they were affected by the dropouts.

- It is clear that it is sad that they choose to be outside the national team, but I don't think you notice it that much.

We are a very strong group who are still in the team and push each other.

But it is clear that they are missing, that's how it is, says Johanna Hagström to SVT Sport.

“If I think about the group then...”

Ebba Andersson is aware that it is an individual sport and that everyone tries to optimize their own conditions.

- But if I think about the group, there are three strong girls that we miss out on training with during our national team camps, and it is clearly noticeable.

But in addition to the three, we are still a strong women's team and try to use each other as well as we can, says Andersson.

In what way is it noticeable that they are gone?

- What is noticeable is that there are three strong girls who have maintained a high level in our training sessions, so it would be strange if you didn't notice it because there are some that you have trained with on many previous occasions.

Trains with the German national team

Reigning Olympic champion in sprinting, Jonna Sundling, says the withdrawal has not affected her pre-season.

- No, I wouldn't say that it has.

How do you experience sparring?

- It is absolutely fantastic.

It's a great group that we have here and it's great fun to come to camp and train with each other, it gives a lot.

Since the break-up, Frida Karlsson has, among other things, chosen to train with the German national team, at the same time that Sweden's national team trained in the same location.

No big deal, according to national team manager Anders Byström.

- It is clear that there will be a bit of a media uproar around such a thing, but for us it is not dramatic.

We've met here for example, they've been here on camp and we've talked in a good way, so there's nothing weird.

For our part, we focus on those who are in the squad here now and train with us.

It feels very harmonious in the squad and a very good atmosphere.

We are looking forward to the winter both with those who are in the team and those who are outside right now, he says.
