The damages are shared between Bryant's widow Vanessa Bryant and Chris Chester, whose wife and daughter also died in the accident.

The January 26, 2020 helicopter crash killed former LA Lakers player Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, two of her basketball teammates, and five other people on board.

The helicopter was on its way to a girls' basketball tournament in Los Angeles.

Several police officers and firefighters took close-up pictures at the scene of the accident.

Photos they allegedly shared after the accident.

Defense lawyers do not dispute that the images were taken, but claim they were never shared publicly and have now been deleted.

But attorneys for Bryant and Chester say it is not known whether or how the images were spread because it has not been properly investigated, and it took a long time to examine the phones and computers of the police and firefighters.

"The truth is, the city has no idea who had the photos and who they sent them to," said Bryant's attorney, Craig Lavoie, during his closing argument.

Kobe Bryant was one of the NBA's greatest during his 20 years in the league.

He played his last NBA game in 2016. Bryant played throughout his professional career for the LA Lakers and became the NBA champion five times.

He won Olympic gold with the USA in 2008 and 2012.

Kobe Bryant turned 41 years old.

He would have turned 44 on Tuesday.
