Novak broke away with 14 kilometers left of the roller skiing cross-country race together with Göran Holstad Tefre and Martin Lövström Nyenget.
With two kilometers to go, he decided with an increase in pace and won for the second year in a row.
- I didn't think I would be able to repeat the victory, said Novak.
Petter Northug, who made a comeback, finished 38th and the big star on skis, Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, was 40th in a strong starting field.
On the women's side, Frida Karlsson finished fifth, barely 15 minutes behind a completely superior Astrid Öyre Slind.
She was a full twelve minutes ahead of runner-up Lotta Udnes Weng.
The best Swede was Ida Dahl, who finished fourth.
