The singer Isaak is competing for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Malmö, Sweden. Isaak was able to prevail in the preliminary round in Berlin on Saturday night with his song “Always on the run”. The singer, who comes from Espelkamp in East Westphalia, won both the jury vote and the audience vote. Max Mutzke, who was at the ESC final 20 years ago, came in second.

A total of nine singers and groups applied for the German starting place for the ESC in the preliminary round. In recent years, Germany has regularly performed disappointingly; last year the group Lord of the Lost came last. Because the Swede Loreen won, the ESC final will take place in Malmö, Sweden.

Isaak Guderian, his full name, worked as a street musician for a long time. In 2011 he appeared in the casting show “X Factor”, and in 2021 he won the digital talent show “Show your Talent”.
