She posted six goals during the group stage and downed Sweden with one goal and two assists in the semifinals.

In the final against Germany, there were no points, but Beth Mead was just as happy about it.

- I'm shocked, it's completely crazy, I can hardly believe that we managed to win, says Mead, who has a difficult time behind him.

"So proud"

It all started when she was kicked from the squad that would defend the English colors in the Olympics.

- It's hard to put it into words, I'm so proud of what me and my family have achieved.

It's been a tough year for me off the pitch and I'm super proud that I've managed to bounce back, Mead said, going on to pay tribute to the England squad.

- We have incredible quality and breadth in the team and all the players have been fantastic.

We show proof of a strong will when we manage to decide the match in extra time and avoid a penalty shootout.
