Little Frida didn't feel like going to the big train station at all, that was unmistakable.

When tour winner Jonas Vingegaard's little daughter was placed in the open convertible with her famous father, Frida suddenly began to cry.

But the rest of the country fell into a collective frenzy of jubilation when the new folk hero returned home.

"I didn't expect to be greeted in this way.

It's absolutely fantastic," said the 25-year-old after landing - although the madness was just beginning.

Vingegaard arrived in a private jet with daughter and girlfriend Trine, true to style with his name painted yellow on the fin.

The plane was the most followed worldwide on the Flightradar website at the time and was escorted by two F16 fighter jets.

“We are recognized everywhere”

"It was an amazing experience," said Vingegaard.

In the open convertible with the howling Frida, who consoled herself with a new cuddly toy in a green (!) jersey, we passed thousands of flag-waving compatriots.

The scenery was like a tour stage, next stop: Rathausplatz.

Thousands were again waiting for their darling there, including Vingegaard's parents.

"We actually thought that we could hide here," Mama Karina told the BT newspaper, "but we didn't succeed.

We're recognized everywhere.” What she looked forward to most was “giving him a hug and telling him we're proud of him.”

She had tears in her eyes when this happened.

Her son, wearing his yellow jersey, was busy.

While still in the car, he grabbed the microphone and thanked the fans.

"It's absolutely insane, such a reception.

A great day!" said Vingegaard, completely overwhelmed: "It's completely wild, really touching." In the town hall, the traditional pancakes were waiting for the guest of honor ("I can do 20!") - and an entry in the Golden Book next to crowned heads, the football heroes from 1992 or political greats like Barack Obama.

"I don't quite get it yet," he said.

After the ceremony, Vingegaard and the other Danish tour participants were expected by 25,000 fans in the world-famous amusement and recreation park Tivoli, the French ambassador spoke.

In the evening, the Oresund Bridge should shine red and white in honor of Vingegaard, on Thursday he will be received in his hometown of Glyngöre near Aalborg - the police expect "over 10,000" people.
