The first 30 minutes of the second semi-final were tentative, without many scoring chances.

The last five before the half-time break, however, were the exact opposite.

Because if there's one thing that's a guarantee so far in the tournament, it's that Germany's number eleven will score.

Alexandra Popp scored her fifth goal, in as many matches, when she gave Germany the lead on the volley.

It is the first time in a European Championship that a player has scored five goals in a row.

Meets the host nation in the final

However, Germany's other guarantee earlier in the EC, to keep a clean sheet, was broken five minutes later.

It was France's Kadidiatou Diani who fired a rock-hard shot into the post and through Merle Frohm's back and into the goal.

The decider came in the 76th minute when Popp rose to head a cross and head in his sixth goal of the tournament to make it 2-1.

Now the final awaits for the EC debutant and her Germany.

In the final, the home team England awaits at Wembley.

The match will be played on Sunday at 18.00 and will be broadcast on SVT2.
