Before the season, John Alvbåge chose to break his contract with Akropolis.

After over 400 games in his career, of which 245 in the Allsvenskan, he has now chosen to end his playing career.

"It is a very difficult decision for me to make as it is such a large part of my life and a large part of my identity.

I have dedicated my life to being a football goalkeeper but everything has an end," he writes on his Instagram.

He then goes on to thank, among other things, all the associations, players and supporters he has played for and against.

Alvbåge has played most of his matches for IFK Gothenburg and Örebro SK.

In addition, he has, among other things, made trips abroad to Norway, the USA and Cyprus.

Now he returns to Norway to become goalkeeping coach at Sarpsborg 08, the club that Stefan Billborn (formerly in Hammarby) now coaches.

"Now I'm going to change my saddle and go from player to coach.

Thanks to Sarpsborg 08 for this opportunity," writes Alvbåge.
