Alexandria goalkeeper Ahmed Yahya received great support from his teammates and the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association after he was attacked by the team's fans after he conceded 5 goals against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Football League yesterday, Thursday.

The fans' attack caused the goalkeeper's anger and dissatisfaction with what happened, which prompted him to leave the stadium crying, saying, "By God, I will not play football again," according to the circulating video clips of the incident.

Yahya participated in the match despite the death of his brother only two days ago, and demanded that he be replaced 15 minutes before the end of the match, in light of the attack of the Al-Ittihad fans and their chanting against him.

Immediately after the match ended, and despite the loss, the Professional Clubs Association announced the selection of Yahya as a player for the 24th round of the Egyptian League, and wrote in a post on its official account on Facebook, “With his insistence on playing the match in order to help his colleagues and his prejudice against himself in response to his club’s call, all support for goalkeeper Ahmed Yahya, who gave him Choose a player for the round, keep your head high, Ahmed."

Yahya's teammates expressed their wide support for him on their Instagram accounts, and most of the players were keen to share the goalkeeper's photo on the "Daily Stories" feature, write some words of support and thank him for what he did despite his brother's death.

"One of the cleanest personalities I have ever seen in my life, and God Almighty, we all love you from our hearts," Fawzi Al-Hinnawi wrote about Yahya, his teammate, while the left-back of the Alexandrian Union, Karim El-Deeb, said, "May God strengthen you and give you patience in the separation of your brother, and may God have mercy on humanity."

The midfielder, Ahmed Rashid, indicated that the loss with this harsh result was due to the shortcomings of all, holding all players responsible, not only the goalkeeper.
