Alpine skiing is known as "the jewel in the crown of the Winter Olympics". Men and women are divided into 5 events of downhill, super giant slalom, giant slalom, slalom and all-around, and there are also mixed group events.

Compared with other alpine skiing events, the downhill race has a longer track and a larger drop, and the athletes can glide faster during the race, which is both ornamental and dangerous.

During the Beijing Winter Olympics, the starting point of the "Xue Feiyan" downhill track is at an altitude of 2,179 meters, with a vertical drop of 894 meters.

The training started on time at 11 am that day, and 56 athletes slid down from the starting point in order.

Since athletes from various countries are not familiar with the track, a total of 18 players made mistakes such as missing the flag gate, but the ranking of downhill training does not affect the starting order and ranking of the main race.

The Sochi Winter Olympics men's downhill gold medalist and Austrian Matthias Meier was the first to play in training, but his performance was not as expected due to missing two flag gates after starting, and he only clocked a time of 1 minute 46.44 seconds. Ranked 37th.

Swiss player Stefan Rogentin, born in 1994, played 23rd on the day and topped the list with a time of 1 minute 44.00 seconds.

On the same day, Chinese players Zhang Yangming and Xu Mingfu also participated in the training. They passed all the flag gates smoothly and ranked 53rd and 55th respectively.

After the game, Xu Mingfu updated his Weibo photo and said, "Focus on him, the first day of public training is over."

According to FIS regulations, official training for downhill competitions should be scheduled for at least 3 days.

According to the official competition schedule, the men's downhill competition will officially start on the morning of February 6.

During the Beijing Winter Olympics cycle, Zhang Yangming and Xu Mingfu performed stably in FIS's multi-stop points competition, and they strived to break through the best results in this home game.

Compared with European and American powers, the gap between China's national alpine skiing team is not small.

Since the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics in the United States, China has only participated in alpine skiing competitions in 6 Winter Olympics. Except for the slalom, giant slalom and super giant slalom, the Chinese alpine ski team has no Olympic experience in other sports. .

In this "home door" operation, the Chinese alpine ski team won 4 places and qualified for all 11 events, achieving a historic breakthrough in participating in the entire project.

Men's athletes Zhang Yangming and Xu Mingfu and women's athletes Kong Fanying and Ni Yueming will represent China.
