Zebastian Modin has five World Cup medals in cross-country skiing on the merit list and aimed to take more in the championship which starts in Lillehammer on Thursday.

That does not seem to be the case now.

On Saturday, he received a positive response to a PCR test.

- We have been extra careful since before Christmas so it was surprising when I started to feel the symptoms at the beginning of the week.

I have had a fever and a headache, fortunately it has already turned around and I feel better, says Modin.

Modin would have competed together with the guide Emil Jönsson Haag and there is still a small chance that they can ride the final sprint on 22 January.

- We take day by day and we will see where it goes.

Of course I lose a lot of training and we saw these competitions in Lillehammer as a very important start to 2022 for me and Emil.

The season's big goal for Modin is the Paralympics in Beijing, which is broadcast on SVT.
