Surely not the goal of the year, but it's the stats that count.

By converting a penalty on Saturday night in the 43rd minute of the game against Valencia, counting for the twentieth day of La Liga, Karim Benzema scored his 300th goal for Real Madrid.

Fourth top scorer in club history, the French international center forward is only eight goals away from legend Alfredo di Stéfano (308 goals).

The first two places are occupied by Raul (323 goals) and Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, now at Manchester United, who sits on this ranking with a total of 451 goals.

A first title of "Pichichi"?

The native of Bron, a suburb of Lyon, has long been criticized for his lack of goals at Real Madrid, but has now won the hearts of fans.

The first goal of "KB9" to Real dates back to September 29, 2009, during the third day of La Liga against Jerez, when the French had just landed in the Spanish capital from Olympique Lyonnais.

This season, Benzema has 21 goals and twelve assists in 25 games in all competitions.

The current top scorer in Liga (16 goals in twenty games) is in the race to glean his first “Pichichi” trophy in Spain, after that won in 2007-2008 in Ligue 1 with Lyon (with 20 goals in L1 and 31 in all competitions confused that season).

His best La Liga total dates from the 2015-2016 season, when the Frenchman reached the 24-goal mark.
