The Emirates teams and their guest Baniyas at 16:45 this evening will cut the tape of the 16th round of the President’s Cup football tournament, which is held in a knockout system, and the confrontations will continue tomorrow with the Khorfakkan meeting with Al-Wasl at 16:45, and Al-Jazeera with Al-Uruba 16 :50, Al-Wehda with Ajman 19:45, Al-Nasr with Al-Ain 19:45, and the confrontations will resume the day after tomorrow, with three matches that bring together Ittihad Kalba with Al-Arabi 16:45, Al-Dhafra with Al-Ahly youth 16:50, and Sharjah with Hatta 19:45.

In today's match, the Emirates team "The Falcons" seeks to repeat the victory over its guest in two different competitions, after it had succeeded in returning from Abu Dhabi with three valuable points in the Professional League Cup at the beginning of this month, after achieving a victory over Baniyas in Abu Dhabi with a goal for free.

The “Falcons” played good matches in the League Cup, unlike the League Championship, which did not succeed in achieving any positive result in it, and suffered losses in 10 consecutive matches, which prompts the team to try to appear well in the Cup Championship and take advantage of the ground factor in order to achieve the first victory in the championship League teams compete.

On the other hand, Baniyas is looking to restore the memory of last season, in which he presented the most wonderful performances and won the second place in the league, and was a contender for the title until the last rounds before he was exposed to a series of negative results at the beginning of the current season that made him a lower position in the table.

For his part, the UAE coach, Moroccan Tariq Sektiwi, confirmed in a press conference that “the preparations for the match went well and with great professionalism from the players,” noting “the great determination of all team members to get a positive result.”

He referred to the possibility of moving forward in this tournament, and said: "There is nothing to prevent that, it is true that it is a difficult task, but I trust the capabilities of the players and I believe that they are always able to achieve victories, and because the team deserves a better situation than it is now."

Tariq Al-Sektiwi returned his optimism to his confidence in the team and his belief that football does not know the impossible and is given to those who strive, stressing that he sticks with his players to the continuous fight, and said: “Bani Yas is a strong and respected team, and they have an excellent coach and players at a high level, and we do not transfer them, with the stance of the fans.” Behind the players and the support available from the management we can win, we just have to believe that this can be achieved on the field with serious giving and with the support of the fans from the stands.”

Tournament System

The Football Association, through the list of the President’s Cup competition for the 2021-2022 sports season, has determined the roadmap for the competition, starting from the round of 16, which will start today, until the final match. The final is a home-and-away system of two matches, knowing that the stadiums on which the round of 16 matches and the quarter-finals will be played have been determined through the draw that was held last September for remote video communication technology. According to Article 24 of the President’s Cup regulation, when the match in the round of 16 and the quarter-finals ends in its original time with a tie, an additional time is calculated from two 30-minute halves of 15 minutes for each half.

The final match of the President's Cup will be held in one match and will be played on a stadium to be determined by the Board of Directors of the Football Association later on the recommendation of the Competitions Committee.
