30-year-old Alexander Wiklund has averaged almost one point per game this season, so it was hardly a surprise that sports director Per Kenttä wanted to extend his contract with the forwards star.

And Wiklund himself wanted that too.

So just before the release of tonight's home match against league-leading Modo, Wiklund, to the great cheers of the audience, signed a contract that is valid for another two seasons.

- I have enjoyed myself incredibly well from day one.

There is no better place to play hockey, so it was an easy choice when Kenttä wanted to extend, he tells C More.

Set own return

If it was the contract that gave him extra energy, we leave it unsaid, but once the match started, it did not take long before Wiklund showed that he is worth the money the new contract gives him.

After 3.28, Tex Williamsson released a return on a shot from Wiklund in power play, and there Wiklund cut like a cobra and put 1-0 for Björklöven.

- It was nice to be able to go on your own return there and get to print it.

It was redemptive for us, says Wiklund to C More.

Wiklund also assisted

Björklöven finally won the match with a full 7-3, after three goals in the last eight minutes of the match when Modo pressed on and took a chance in the hunt for a pick-up.

Mentioned Alexander Wiklund received an assist to the last goal of the match, when he missed an open goal, followed by Gustav Possler setting the score.

With the result, combined with HV71's 4-0 victory against Tingsryd, Modo now lost the league lead to HV.

Björklöven remains in third place in the table.
