Half a year after his collapse at the European Football Championship, Danish international Christian Eriksen and his club Inter Milan have agreed to terminate their contract. The Italian champions announced on Friday. Tuttosport had previously reported that his manager Martin Schoots had discussed the details with Inter's managing director Giuseppe Marotta. The 29-year-old had a defibrillator used after the EM drama, but he is not allowed to play in Italy's Serie A. Eriksen wants to continue his professional career in another country.
According to Tuttosport, Eriksen will say goodbye to the fans in January at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.
The Dane had been under contract with the Lombard club since January 2020, which had paid him a 27 million euro transfer fee.
Eriksen made 60 appearances for Inter and scored eight goals.
Eriksen collapsed on June 12th in the Danes' first European Championship group game in Copenhagen against Finland and had to be reanimated.
He narrowly escaped death.
Without Eriksen, the Danes later made it to the semi-finals.
Most recently there were reports that Eriksen had secretly started advanced training in his home country on the club grounds of his former club Odense BK at the beginning of December.
A spokesman for the club confirmed this to the dpa a short time later.
