The Dutchman Verstappen was behind the British Lewis Hamilton during virtually the entire race, re-running the seven-time world champion Hamilton at the end of the race, after a crash that caused it to restart, which meant that Hamilton's lead disappeared.
Hamilton's stable Mercedes withdraws its appeal because it has been promised by the International Automobile Federation Fia that they will make an analysis of the events in the race.
"We welcome the decision to set up a commission to review what happened in Abu Dhabi and improve the stability of rules, governance and decision-making in Formula 1. We will hold Fia accountable for this process and therefore withdraw our appeal," he wrote. Mercedes in a statement.
