The Algerian national team qualified for the decisive round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup, after drawing with its guest Burkina Faso 2-2 during the match that brought them together today, Tuesday, in the sixth and final round of the first group competitions.

The Algerian team advanced with a goal scored by Riyad Mahrez in the 21st minute, and Burkina Faso tied through Zakaria Sanogo in the 37th minute.

Sofiane Feghouli restored the Algerian team's lead by scoring the second goal in the 68th minute, but Issoufou Dayo scored the second goal for Burkina Faso in the 83rd minute from a penalty kick.

And the Algerian team raised its score to 14 points at the top of the standings, two points behind Burkina Faso.

The Algerian national team continued its distinguished career by avoiding losing 33 matches in a row, taking a step towards the world record recorded in the name of Italy with 37 matches.

The Algerian national team became the eighth team to guarantee its qualification to the decisive round, after Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, the Republic of Congo, Ghana, Mali and Nigeria.

The decisive round matches will be held next March to determine the five teams that will represent Africa in the World Cup in Qatar.
