Saudi-owned Chateauroux sacks coach Marco Simone

The French club Châteauroux, which had been acquired since last March by the Saudi Prince Abdullah bin Musaed bin Abdulaziz Group, sacked its Italian coach, Marco Simone, according to what was announced on Monday.

A replacement for Simone has not been announced, the statement added.

Simone had arrived at Châteauroux after the acquisition of the French club by the "United World" group, but he was not spared relegation to the third division.

He also had a bad start to his season, as he currently occupies eighth place after ten stages of starting the third division.

The sack of the 52-year-old former Italian Paris Saint-Germain and Milan striker came three days after a 2-0 loss at home to Concarno.

Friday's match was played for the first time under Ben Mosaed's eyes at the Gaston-Potti Stadium.

The Bin Mosaed Group (56 years old), the former Minister of Sports in Saudi Arabia between 2014 and 2017, owns the English clubs Sheffield United, Belgium’s Bershkot, the UAE’s Al Hilal United and India’s Kerala United.
