Saint-Germain responds to the statements of the “La Liga” president

French football club Paris Saint-Germain expressed its fury at the criticism leveled at it by Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish League (La Liga), and urged him to focus more attention on the two Spanish clubs that are still looking to establish the European Super League.

Tebas had written on his Twitter account last week that Saint-Germain was "dangerous" for European football like the Super League and returned to the topic at a press conference held in Spain yesterday.

"We will work against the national clubs. They are enemies like the Super League," Tebas said.

He again described Saint-Germain's spending as "unsustainable", and even criticized the age profile of the team's newcomers, such as Argentine magician Lionel Messi and veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, describing the club as a "League of Legends".

Victoriano Melero, the general secretary of Paris Saint-Germain, responded to Tebas in a letter seen by the British News Agency (PA Media).

"Time after time, you allow yourself to publicly attack the Ligue 1, our club, our players - along with the players of other clubs - and the fans of French football," Millero wrote.

"You should not forget that we comply with the regulations of the European Football Association (UEFA) and the regulations of France, including those of the French Football Finance Authority," Millero added.

He continued, "It is worth noting that the French League, like the Spanish League that it supervises, did not wait until recent years to take measures and establish strong financial regulations."

"Now, you are also directly and disrespectfully attacking the players, simply because they decided to leave your competitions, while at the same time you were taking full advantage of the presence of these world-class players in promoting the Spanish league until very recently," the Saint-Germain secretary-general stressed.

"Your wonderful comments about the age of these players not only offend their past and present roles in defining how our great game is played, but also offend the millions of fans around the world who adore them so dearly," explained Milero.

And Saint-Germain had ignored the offers made by the riyal to include Mbappe for 200 million euros (236 million dollars), after the club's management expressed doubts about whether the Spanish team actually had the money.

For their part, Royal Club officials expressed their surprise at the position taken by the French club towards a player who will have the right to leave for free next summer.
