: Franck Ferrand is so bored today that he takes advantage of a half-collapsed castle to tell us about his life.

You don't feel obligated, Franck especially.

61km

: Almost 45 of average still today for the men who play in front.

We will lose half of it before the first day of rest.

63km

: Wout Poels who does not get up in any case, he continues at full speed and keeps about thirty seconds ahead of the 17.

65km

: And van der Poel who hangs in the peloton, let go by his team from the first kilometers but he is there.

We will see in the first category ribs if he still has a little left in his socks to save his jersey.

It promises to be tense anyway.

67km

: The complete line-up of the chasing group.

Beautiful linen!

đź‘€ Here is the composition of the big group in pursuit behind the solo leader.

: I haven't told you yet, but Pierre Latour is also dumped, along with Dan Martin.

Both are more than 7 minutes from the head (I had a problem in my early summary, like).

72km

: The pursuers are well and truly gone

It really seems to be the right one, since the peloton has recovered, with the UAE controlling the train.

17 riders, therefore, who should soon return to Poels before the three big difficulties of the day.

74km

: IT'S ROCKER TIME

We don't forget to zap so as not to end up in the sauce (it's a joke because after it's a cooking show on France 3, mdrrrrr).

76km

A nice group of pursuers left behind Poels.

We find in particular Martin, Elissonde, Valverde, Quintana, Benoot, Kuss.

It could be a good move since it is a strong group but without a big favorite in it.

79km

: The Cochonou truck is unstuck, we are saved.

Situation under control according to the public on the spot: the Cochonou truck has just crossed the summit of Mont Saxonnex, the runners will be able to take the planned route.

: And Van Aert untenable ... I don't know if it is a good calculation to give so much so early, but frankly we are having a blast.

On yesterday's momentum, the guys are breaking all the habits of the peloton, it's great.

83km

: Guillaume Martin also tried to leave, with Quitana in particular.

Nairo who is one of the big losers of this first week, already close to 20 minutes overall.

85km

: One of the images of this start of the stage, anyway.

Bad luck on the big tours for Primoz ...

: And here again it's quite simple, because there are still 15 minutes Pogacar tried to get out, Van Art too, it shoots in all directions.

We expected it but certainly not so soon!

Update on the race

There is a great need because it is a boxon not possible.

1- a man in the lead, Wout Poels, who broke away a few kilometers ago.

2- the big peloton is 45 '' away, with the main favorites.

The Mathieu van der Poel yellow jersey too, of course.

3 - More than 5 minutes away, lost in the pampas, Primoz Roglic, which is painful to see.

The Slovenian is really in the hard since his crashes, he is hanging on but we are not far from abandonment I have the impression.

4 - Still 2 minutes behind, a group formed very very early, with Geraint Thomas, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish, for the most famous.

Half of van der Poel's team are there too.

90km

Come on, we're off to this stage, where a lot has happened from the first kilometers!

2:00 p.m .

: I'll meet you in an hour to catch the aerial, or a little earlier if ever extraordinary things happen.

Everything.

2:00

p.m .

Ouesh cyclix, how good is it?

EXCELLENT VANNE thank you all.

No more humor, I offer without further delay the anticipated summary of this 8th stage.

Annoyed at having been punished like children yesterday because they had missed the right breakaway, Total Direct Energie worked hard from the start of the stage to put Pierre Latour in front.

Against all expectations, it works and the climber leaves with Warren Barguil, Guillaume Martin, Dan Martin and Matej Mohoric.

The Slovenian has a hot paw, and even if it pulls a bit everywhere, he makes the effort to strengthen his polka dot jersey.

There is even a virtual yellow jersey thanks to the 6-minute lead left by the peloton at the foot of the Mont-Saxonnex pass. In fact, no one wants to ride behind. Van der Poel lets the favorites do - and then he's done anyway - Pogacar is still sulking, Van Aert is busy patching up Roglic's thigh, still caught in a crash early in the stage. Roller, climber, trainer, the Belgian can do it all. His carbo pasta at Campanile du Creusot on Friday evening amazed everyone.

But the serious things begin in this first grade of the first category.

Julian Alaphilippe took a loyalty card in Le Grand-Bornand in 2018 and intends to take advantage of it.

There was 30 minutes of spa free for the second stage victory.

Bibao and Buchmann engage.

The three men take back all the French in the Colombière, only Mohoric resists again and again.

The final descent will reshuffle all the cards.

At the end of the roll, the Slovenian makes a mistake.

The three pursuers mark each other, which allows the Jumbo to bring back the group of favorites.

The victory is played in the sprint, and it is Van Aert who wins.

And yes, he is also a sprinter.

Tonight, it's osso bucco to celebrate.

No time to breathe on the Tour.

After a very lively stage yesterday, marked by the panache of the Mathieu van der Poel yellow jersey, the good deal for the general of Wout van Aert and the tears of Matej Mohoric after his victory at the finish, the peloton set sail for the Alps this Saturday.

Five climbs listed on the menu, the first two to warm up, the last three to make the difference and go for the stage.

We will know which favorites still deserve this title, after a start to the Tour which has already skimmed more than expected.
