Champion of France with Lille a month ago, Christophe Galtier flew to the Côte d'Azur to train OGC Nice, as announced by the Ineos group on Monday evening.

The technician spent a total of three and a half seasons in the North.

Christophe Galtier, French champion last May with Lille, has been appointed coach of OGC Nice, announced Monday evening the Ineos group, owner of the Riviera club.

"OGC Nice is pleased to confirm the appointment of Christophe Galtier as new head coach, with immediate effect," wrote the British group in a press release.

Weeks of negotiations

Christophe Galtier was the coach of Lille from December 2017 to May 2021, a cycle crowned by the title of champion of France won a month ago.

A few days after this coronation, he announced his wish to leave the northern club and find a new challenge.

Lyon and Naples had been mentioned as serious tracks, but Nice were favorites.

For several weeks, Christophe Galtier had agreed with the Nice leaders, but the club still had to discuss with Losc, where the technician still had a year of contract and who did not intend to release him for free.
