Croatia will be deprived of its top scorer Ivan Perisic on Monday, tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, for its round of 16 of the Euro against Spain.

He will therefore miss the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, if the vice-world champions qualify.

Croatia will be deprived on Monday of its top scorer Ivan Perisic, who tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, for its round of 16 of the Euro against Spain, announced the Croatian Federation. The tournament is probably over for the Inter Milan winger, scorer of two goals in three matches against the Czech Republic (1-1) and then Scotland (3-1), since the federation specifies in a statement that " Perisic will observe a 10-day isolation period and will not participate in the matches of the Croatian national team during this period ".

It will therefore miss the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, if Croatia qualifies.

"The medical team isolated Ivan from the other members of the national team and immediately informed the competent epidemiological authorities of the situation, providing evidence that they had taken the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus", adds the federation specifying having received the result of the player's positive test on Saturday evening.

All other players and staff have tested negative, according to the federation.

A key player in the vice-world champions

Perisic scored the 3rd goal last Tuesday in the victory over Scotland, who was deprived of his midfielder Billy Gilmour, who tested positive a few days earlier for the coronavirus.

Two England players Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell were placed in solitary confinement for ten days after speaking with their club partner Gilmour after the 0-0 draw between England and Scotland on June 18 , but no Scottish player had been placed in quarantine.

Perisic is one of the key players of the Croatian vice-world champions, along with captain Luka Modric.
