The trial in the big match-fixing scandal is in its second day of negotiations and now the ex-Allsvenskan football player is being questioned in the district court's hall 4.

He is charged with taking bribes and gambling in connection with an Allsvenskan match in the spring of 2019. Crimes that can result in a fine of up to two years in prison.

In mid-February, the International Football Association (FIFA) banned him from all sports in the world.

Prior to that, the Swedish Football Association had issued the same suspension in Sweden.

- I asked very kindly to wait for the verdict, but they (the football association) sent it to Fifa.

I think it's wrong, I'm not convicted, the player says when he is questioned in court.

"Not convicted"

The player, who has made a living from football for about ten years, says that he has not had an income for several months.

- It feels like I'm a victim, but I have not been convicted, he says.

In police interrogation, he has said that he basically lost all his earned money and in court he again tells about his gambling addiction.

- I have played.

I can openly say that I have had an addiction.

It's not something I'm proud of, but it's true, he says.

- If you have lost so much money, it must be seen as an addiction, the player says.

Prosecutors claim that the player intentionally drew a warning in a match in the spring of 2019 and that he had to borrow SEK 300,000 in return from two other co-accused men, who are 31 and 34 years old.

The two men are accused of giving bribes and gambling.

- Absolutely not, he says about the accusation of having taken the yellow card intentionally.

The money landed in the player's account a couple of days after the match, but he himself claims that it is a regular loan without any demands for a consideration.

- It was a correct loan that I made.

I have paid back that money.

Prosecutor Staffan Edlund asks what happened to the 300,000 kronor.

- I do not really remember that, but I remember that I lost a lot of that money, he says.

"I was ashamed too"

When he contacted the 34-year-old, who arranged the loan, he first said that it was to another person.

- I was probably ashamed too.

Because I earn so much.

I made it a little easier for myself, the player says when asked why he did not say that the loan was for himself.

A promissory note was drawn up in connection with the loan and it was stated that he would pay SEK 100,000 in interest.

- This is not the first time I have borrowed money, and every time I have paid extra.

They still had no idea then that it was for me.

Another man is charged with taking bribes and gambling.
