The Super League has deflated: the renunciation of the six English clubs, then Atlético and the three Italian teams, precipitated the fall of this dissident competition on Wednesday, after only 48 hours of existence.

Relieved, European football now hopes to "rebuild" its unity.

This wave of defections was launched Tuesday evening by Manchester City, then Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United and finally Chelsea. These teams have nipped in the bud this project likely to ensure the big teams colossal income thanks to a permanent ticket in a tournament almost inaccessible to other formations of the continent. Juventus, chaired by Andrea Agnelli, one of the main instigators of the project with Real Madrid boss Florentino Pérez, admitted that the Super League was now "unlikely" to see the light of day as it is. In any case, it looks like a victory for popular football against the big bosses and shareholders, illustrated for example by the few hundred fans of English clubs who expressed their disapproval on Tuesday evening around the Stamford Bridge stadium in Chelsea, London, failing to be able to do so in the stands due to the pandemic. Back, in pictures, on the mobilization of English supporters against the project.
