The World Cup in speedski has this season, due to the corona pandemic and weather problems, consisted of only three competitions, all in Idre.

Two of them have been won by Swedish Britta Backlund.

Before the end of the day, there was only a difference of 30 points between Britta Backlund, who drives for Rättviks SLK, and Valentina Greggio in the World Cup.

The two kept pace in today's competition, in the semifinals Greggio was the fastest.

But in the final race, Backlund reached a speed of 172.20 km / h and a real challenge awaited the Italian.

"Terribly nervous"

She reached 171.00 km / h, which meant a second place today and in the overall World Cup and that Britta Backlund took her third straight World Cup victory.

- I was terribly nervous at the start because I knew she was good.

I had hopes of being able to beat her but it felt a little far away today.

The nerves were on the outside of the body today.

When I came down and saw her speed, my body was shaking, says Backlund.

The Swede has won all World Cup competitions in the last two years until yesterday when Valentina Greggio won.

- I was so upset.

I knew that she is a good skier and should I give away the prize to someone, she is definitely a worthy winner, says Backlund.
