Porto goals from set pieces and Chiesa's useless double

By Porto's arrival in Turin, Juventus was able to assemble an almost optimal squad.

The Italians only lacked Danilo, who missed the second leg of the Champions League 1/8 finals due to disqualification.

Of the leaders of the team, only Paulo Dybala remained in the infirmary, without whom Andrea Pirlo's wards had been playing well lately.

Injured in the first meeting with the Portuguese, Giorgio Chiellini moved to the bench and could, if necessary, strengthen the defense.

However, Juventus first of all needed to think about the attack - to reach the next round, the home team had to score at least two goals.

Alvaro Morata could have solved the first half of this problem in the fourth minute.

The top scorer of the Italians in the current Champions League season took a canopy from Juan Cuadrado five meters from the empty goal, but managed to hit goalkeeper Agustín Marquezín.

Porto responded by showing that he had not come to Italy just to fight back.

Soon, the same Cuadrado could not prevent the ball from flying into his own penalty area, where Mehdi Taremi struck two strikes in a row.

The Iranian first hit Wojciech Szczęsny, and then the crossbar.

Unable to score himself, the Porto striker made it so that one of his partners did it.

In the 18th minute, Taremi earned a penalty kick from Merih Demiral, who was not in time for the ball.

The judge immediately pointed to the "point" to which Sergio Oliveira approached.

The Portuguese scored his fourth goal of the tournament and caught up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the scorer's dispute.

For the team, this goal was already the sixth, issued in the first 20 minutes of the match.

Until the end of the first half, Morata again missed a great chance to play one goal.

Another accurate transfer Cuadrado allowed him to earn only a corner.

Before the break, Markesin continued to play as reliably as possible, coping with any threat.

Szczensny did not get bored either, and in stoppage time did not allow Oliveira to earn a double.

It was Federico Chiese who had to save Juventus, who had already rescued his team in the first match.

At the beginning of the second half, Ronaldo left the ball under attack, and the Italian shot great into the far corner.

His goal was Juventus' 500th in the Champions League - only more than Real, Barcelona and Bayern.

And soon Chiesa was involved in the fact that his team was in the majority.

Taremi drove into the ankle of the attacker and received a warning, and after a minute and a half, completely stupidly knocked the ball into the stands after the whistle.

Arbiter Bjorn Kuipers did not forgive this and removed the Iranian from the field.

Chiesa could almost immediately convert the numerical advantage, but defender Pepe prevented him in time and sent the ball to the post.

A few minutes later, the Italian striker teamed up with Cuadrado and closed his canopy with his head from the right flank.

With his third goal against Porto, Chiesa provided at least an extra half hour for his team.

Juventus had a chance to avoid overtime if Morata had avoided an offside position in stoppage time or if Cuadrado had shot below the crossbar.

In extra time, Ronaldo finally tried to prove himself, having scored only one goal in seven matches with Porto in his entire career, but Marquezin beat the Portuguese in a clean subcategory.

Juventus with great difficulty tried to squeeze out at least one more chance, but in the end they missed it themselves.

At the 115th minute, Adrien Rabiot broke the rules near the possessions of Turin.

Oliveira went to execute a dangerous free kick and struck great low on goal Szczensny.

Juventus again needed to score two goals, only now Andrea Pirlo's charges had very little time for this.

Rabiot rehabilitated himself for his violation and managed to close the transfer from a corner himself, but even four more compensated minutes did not help the Italian club.

For the second time in a row, Juventus were eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 due to an away goal rule, and Porto returned to the quarterfinals of the main European Cup two years later.

Borussia's winning draw and Holland's long-suffering goal

Dortmund Borussia took over Sevilla, already having a 3: 2 victory in the first game.

In the return match, the Germans were unable to field several of their leaders at once due to injuries, including Axel Witsel and Jadon Sancho.

But for them, any losses were not terrible as long as Erling Holland remained in the ranks.

The Norwegian striker started the meeting not very well - the guests were determined to turn the tide of the confrontation, and tried, if not to shoot on goal, at least to keep the ball at home.

But in the 35th minute, they lost it at their own penalty, and Mahmoud Dahud and Marco Royce used this chance to create a moment for Holland.

The 20-year-old striker immediately struck between the legs of defender Diego Carlos and opened the scoring.

He has already scored the ninth goal in six Champions League matches, and taking into account last season, he has already recorded 19 goals for himself - the Norwegian repeated Kilian Mbappe's scorer record for players under 21 years old.

After the break, Holland immediately surpassed the Frenchman's achievement, although he had to try very hard for this.

It was not the Sevilla players who prevented him from completing the double, but the referee Cuneyt Chakyr.

The Norwegian burst into someone else's penalty area and shot from an acute angle, but the referee canceled the goal and assigned a penalty instead, as Jules Kunde was holding the Borussia forward by his shirt.

Sevilla goalkeeper Bono repulsed both Holland's kick and Royce's finishing move, but Chakyr intervened again and demanded to interrupt the penalty spot.

On the second try, Holland still scored a double, and when celebrating it, he also received a yellow card.

It took Holland only 14 matches to score 20 in the Champions League - ten games ahead of previous rate-of-fire holder Harry Kane.

At the same time, the Norwegian was the first in the history of the Champions League to score two goals in four games in a row.

Sevilla have already lost all chances to survive in the confrontation with Borussia, but did not leave Dortmund without a goal.

In the middle of the second half, Chakyr returned the intrigue by assigning a penalty to the German team for a foul by Emre Can.

Youssef An-Nesiri played one goal and hurried to the center of the field to resume the game.

The Moroccan player eventually managed to score a double, but rather late - only in the sixth added minute, he closed the canopy of Ivan Rakitic.

Borussia were happy with a draw, which allowed Dortmund to reach the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2017.
