Swiss Stan Wawrinka has three Grand Slam titles, one of which is in the Australian Open (2014).

But he will not win this edition of the Australian Grand Prix.

Early on Wednesday morning (Swedish time) there was a loss already in the second round, against the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.

Weak start of Wawrinka

The 55-ranked Fucsovics won 3–2 in sets: 7–5, 6–1, 4–6, 2–6, 7–6 (11–9).

The match was a real slump, where Wawrinka started weakly with 29 unprovoked mistakes and almost 40 percent missed first serve in the first two sets.

"About to die"

But Wawrinka came back, won the next two sets and had three match points in the deciding set before Fucsovics could finally decide, whereupon he lay on the ground with his hands in front of his eyes and barely seemed to understand what exactly had happened.

- Right now it feels like I'm about to die ... I'm so incredibly tired, he said in the victory interview on the track.

- I have now played two five-seater in the tournament and it is really hot out here.

I knew it would be a tough match and that he would come back, because he is a really strong player and tough mentally.

But I had a strong psyche and that was the most important thing today.

Fucsovics, who thus needed five sets to win the first match as well (against Marc Polmans), received some help from Wawrinka at the end of the match.

On the last seven balls, Wawrinka accounted for five unprovoked mistakes.

In total Wawainka made 73 unprovoked mistakes in the match.
