Five trees were also burnt.

According to the OM, the damage to the buildings amounted to "several hundred thousand euros".

"It is astonishment for all of us, employees, staff, players. We did not expect to see all this savage horde come and destroy everything. I think we also avoided the worst. What I saw is scary, very scared. A tragedy could have occurred ", declared in the evening the president of the Marseilles club Jacques-Henri Eyraud, questioned on Canal +.

A very tense context for weeks

The president of OM is the main target of the anger of the supporters, which has been mounting for weeks and which had already manifested itself in the morning with a massive deployment of protest banners throughout the city.

At the beginning of the afternoon, gathered behind a huge "Cassez Vous" banner and carrying "Dirigeants Dehors" flags, some 300 supporters gathered in front of the gates of the La Commanderie training center and immediately lit firecrackers, fires. fireworks and smoke.

They threw many of them beyond the perimeter walls and three trees planted just at the entrance of the center ended up charred.

Passing through the right side of the site, through fields belonging to a religious community, some of these supporters then entered the grounds of the center "including the building of the professional group", according to OM.
