The 32 schools that will participate in Senbatsu High School Baseball, which will start at Koshien Stadium in March, will be decided on the 29th.

Senbatsu High School Baseball, which is celebrating its 93rd time this year, will hold a selection committee on the 29th to decide which schools to participate in.

The selection committee will be held online for the first time, as some areas have been declared a state of emergency due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

Twenty-eight of the 32 participating schools were selected by "general selection" based on the results of the district competition, one in Hokkaido, two in Tohoku, six in Kanto including Tokyo, two in Tokai, and north. There are 2 schools in Shinetsu, 6 schools in Kinki, 5 schools in total in China and Shikoku, and 4 schools in Kyushu.

In addition, the remaining four schools will be selected in the "21st Century Frame" for schools that have overcome difficult situations and achieved good results.

The "21st century frame" is usually three schools, but because the Meiji Jingu tournament was canceled last fall due to the influence of the new coronavirus, this is the "Jingu tournament frame" given to the district where the school that won the tournament is located. One school has been added.

Of the four candidate schools in the nine districts nationwide, one from eastern Japan, one from western Japan, and two schools from any region are selected for the "21st Century Frame".

From 3:30 pm, 4 schools in the "21st century frame" will be announced, followed by 28 schools in the "general selection".

Senbatsu High School Baseball was canceled for the first time last year due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and we are preparing to hold it with thorough infection countermeasures with the aim of attracting spectators on a scale in line with the government policy. I will.

The tournament will start on March 19th at Koshien Stadium and will be held for 13 days, including a two-day rest day.
