The Japan Sumo Association has announced that one Gyoji who belongs to the Minato room of sumo wrestling has been infected with the new coronavirus.

The infection was discovered by Motoki Kimura, a priest of Makuuchi, who belongs to the Minato room.



According to the Japan Sumo Association, the priest was positive on the morning of the 4th when he underwent a PCR test for the new coronavirus due to fever and coughing symptoms.



Minato room wrestlers and masters were not all identified as close contacts in the health center survey, but they are planning to undergo a PCR test for 5 days just in case.



In the Minato room, in the middle of last month, the master Minato's master was infected with the new coronavirus and was hospitalized and is currently discharged.



The Japan Sumo Association states, "We will continue to strive to prevent the spread of infection based on the guidelines."
