Karl Geiger from Oberstdorf won the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament in his hometown.
The 27-year-old, who became a father for the first time two weeks ago, relegated Poland's Kamil Stoch and Norwegian Marius Lindvik to second and third place.
Co-favorite Markus Eisenbichler was unable to intervene in the battle for the podium after a bad first jump, but tried to limit the damage in the second round.
