The men's qualifiers for the tournament will be decided on January 10-13 in Doha, Qatar, so that players can go to Melbourne and sit in a 14-day mandatory quarantine before they can play any match in Australia.

The WTA tour has not announced how the ladies' qualifiers will be decided, but a similar approach is likely.

Ahead of the Australian Open, two ATP tournaments and the ATP Cup team competition are also waiting for the men, all in Melbourne.
