The 2021 Copa del Rey basketball, which will bring together the eight best teams from the first round of the Endesa League and whose dispute is scheduled for February 11 to 14, will be played in Madrid, according to Onda Madrid and has confirmed the vice president of the Community of Madrid, Ignacio Aguado.
The WiZink Center (Palacio de los Deportes) in the capital will be the venue for the tournament for the second time in the last three years, repeating compared to 2019 and taking over from Malaga, the venue for the 2020 edition, in which Real Madrid champion was proclaimed winning to the Barça by 68-95 in the end.
The question now is whether the public will be able to enter the WiZink Center, albeit in a reduced way, since at the moment the Endesa League is still being played behind closed doors, facing a Copa del Rey that is known as' the party of the hobbies'.
In this sense, the president of the ACB, Antonio Martín, demanded the return of the public to the pavilions two weeks ago, putting that return at 500 fans in each game.
For this, he explained that they have "designed an absolutely safe access protocol to the pavilions", while regretting a different treatment regarding cultural events that "does not make much sense."
