At the Stade de France,

Here is a nasty defeat.

The France team, as uninspired as it was largely overhauled, lost against Finland last night in a friendly match (0-2).

This first setback since June 2019 is not a drama, but those to whom Deschamps gave their chance have disappointed.

A defeat that fucks her badly (anyway)

We had said before, not much in the statement of this match gave a mad desire to spend this Wednesday night with the Blues.

They did nothing to contradict us.

DD had however taken care to align only players who had something to feel concerned, between usual substitutes and holders lacking playing time (Pogba, Giroud).

It was not enough.

They were moved and lacked aggressiveness, like Sissoko on the first goal (28th) or Nzonzi on the second (31st).

Nobody wanted to hurt themselves too much, and the entrants brought absolutely nothing.

It's a shame, because casually it had been 12 games that France had not lost.

DD Lab

After the 3-5-2 and the 4-4-2 diamond, Deschamps continued his experiments with a good old 4-4-2 flat and new associations.

Between the Dubois-Sissoko team on the right and the Digne-Thuram pair on the left, there was one side that was more popular than the other.

It was confirmed, with an interesting complicity between the two leaders of the left corridor.

The son of Lilian, in particular, started very well for his big premiere.

Not shy for a penny, he crashed a lot and his power did damage.

He could have been rewarded but his head smashed the bar (15th).

He passed away, like everyone else, after the first Finnish goal, but he remains the only positive note of this very difficult evening.

At least DD will be able to eliminate some options.

Quick, the next one

Now, we will have to act as if this match did not exist and turn immediately to Lisbon, where the Blues will face Portugal for the final of their Nations League group.

To cheer us up by then, we will remember that last month, the offensive orgy against Ukraine (7-1) did not bode well for the mush that would follow four days later against Ronaldo and his little comrades (0-0).

Are we doing the opposite this time?
