Two winters ago, Evelina Settlin seemed to be heading for her big breakthrough in the cross-country tracks.

Among other things, she was part of the relay team that finished second in the World Cup in Ulricehamn, took third place in the team sprint in Lahti and finished fourth in the World Cup sprint in Lillehammer.

"Too large total load"

The hope last year was to surpass those results.

But apart from a third place in Dresden's team sprint, the season was disappointing.

Now Evelina Settlin talks about what went wrong.

- There was too much total load last autumn, I was completely lowered but told myself that it should probably go well.

It became like a vicious circle with too bad recovery.

I was burnt out, she says to långd.se.

"Has learned a lesson"

Settlin ended the season prematurely after breaking the mass start in Meråker in the Tour de Ski.

That the whole competition season then ended suited her well, she says.

- For me, it was good to have extra time to rest before I got into basic training again.

Now it works well and the whole summer's training has gone well.

- I have learned from what happened last year and changed the structure.

I need to be more sensitive to how the body reacts and trust what I feel.

Next weekend is the competition premiere in Bruksvallarna.
